Gillian Cox Gillian Cox is a well travelled, practising artist, who has lived in Spain Switzerland Scotland and England, & moved to Cheltenham in 2002. In 2005 she began structured lessons at the Cheltenham School of Fine Art, where she refined her drawing and observational work from life. In 2009, she co-founded Crescent Art Space, a studio and exhibition space based in Cheltenham. Inspired by several tutors and painters in recent years, she has developed a style in oils that forms a bold, intuitive and thoughtful approach to painting, drawing upon her initial observational practice at the CSFA. Gillian’s development of her personal style has been through meditating on a particular subject or experience within her own thoughts and emotions, sometimes incorporating aspects of abstraction. Using her imaginative flare, she paints both everyday narratives in oils reflecting the journey and feelings of her own daily life, alongside commercial paintings by commission. Gillian sees the final process of her art works in preparing her own complementary frames, resulting in a striking and unique end product.
